James' Quest For Lungs

The average wait for a lung transplant in Toronto is 6 months. James will also be required to remain in Toronto for 3 months post-transplant for physiotherapy and rehabilitation. It may also take a few weeks to complete the assessment and qualification process for transplant. We imagine that we will be in Toronto for around a year. (That being said, James waited 19 months, including assessment and qualification, for his first double-lung transplant and was in Toronto for two years).

The financial cost of living in Toronto with little to no source of income and minimal savings is daunting. The basic and minimum cost of living in Toronto is $17,000 to $20,000 a year. This includes rent, food, and public transportation. It does not include the cost of airfare, medications, home medical supplies, or any other unforeseen circumstances and expenditures.

Our fundraising goal is $10,000. We hope to supplement the rest through James' disability. Adena will not be able to work, because James will require a support person at his medical appointments and at the transplant gym at least three times a week.

We are so very grateful for all your love and support. Thank you for your generosity as we embark on this quest for a future of health and happiness!
